An easy and FUN way to serve up your next backyard bbq, pack a picnic, store leftovers, or pack lunches! Turn your favorite bbq dishes into a yummy parfait! Eat it in order or scoop it all out on a plate to get a taste of all the options!
Okay so we are switching things up today. Do you mind? Cause this isn’t your “typical recipe”. And by that I mean, I’m not telling you how to cook your meat, or giving you a big list of stuff that goes into baked beans. This is more of a serving idea, completely customizable to your liking.
Buuuuut since you asked, I’ll tell you what I did for the parfaits you see in these pictures.
1 – Pork roast in the crock pot with a couple cups of my favorite bbq sauce
2 – a BIG can of homestyle bbq baked beans ( a great way to cut time but if you have the time, fix up your favorite baked bean recipe!)
3 – A bunch of red potatoes, skinned, boiled, and mashed with a few simple ingredients like salt and pepper, some sour cream, milk, butter, and garlic. mmmmmm.
I’m thinking these would perfect for a picnic if you load up the jars while all of the food is warm. Or you can set it up buffet-style where everyone can build their own parfait and take it out to the backyard for a fun party. And I have to tell you, these make fantastic leftovers! Just sayin. You could make the entire batch just for the purpose of quick dinners and lunches throughout the week. This came in handy last week when my husband showed up for a surprise lunch break at home and I hadn’t planned on anything and we were out of deli meat for sandwiches. My husband thought these were genius. He dumped it all out on a plate, heated it up, and dug in. Fun and YUM!
And like I said, these are totally customizable. If you want to do something other than baked beans, feel free! Or do blue-cheese mashed potatoes (I loooove those). Use chicken or beef instead of pork. It’s all up to you!
- cooked and shredded meat of choice (pork, beef, chicken)
- cooked mashed potatoes
- cooked baked beans
- mason jars
- You can set this up in a buffet style where everyone can build their own parfaits, or serve them up at the Q for ease! You can also make these ahead and use them for lunches or take them on a picnic!
